count yourself blessed...

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend..."

I've recently had the opportunity to reflect upon the changes that have taken place in my heart for the past two years. How do any of us account for the changes...both good and bad...that take place within us? For me, it's rather easy to give account for my many failings, and it's one word: sin. However, when I think of the good changes that have taken place in my heart, I'm at first perplexed...but as I reflect more deeply upon what has happened in my life, I think, above all, I have been blessed to have friends who would wound me. I have not pulled myself up by my own bootstraps. Rather, I have been pulled up by my bootstraps by men who were willing to lay down their life for me. I am the lame man who was taken rather unwillingly to Jesus by his friends...and healed.

Count yourself blessed to have friends who will wound you.

Speaking of friends, I met a friend of yours today - Dan Young. He's going to be a long term sub in the class I assist in.

I firmly believe that no one ever pulls themselves up by their bootstraps. Someone, somewhere along the way has given you boots and/or bootstraps at some point in your life... .
